Rangoli Patterns ~ Key Stage 2

During the Autumn term Class 3 and Class 4 have been looking at Rangoli patterns in their R.E. lessons. A Rangoli pattern is a colourful pattern which is drawn on the floor near the entrance to a house to welcome guests and to encourage the goddess of wealth to enter their homes during the festival of Diwali. Rangoli patterns can be made up of lots of different shapes. They are usually symmetrical and take ideas from nature such as flowers, birds and fruits and so on. Here are some of the patterns that we have designed.

Puppets ~ Class 2

In class 2 we have been using our sewing skills to make a hand puppet out of felt. Firstly we drew our designs on paper, then we made our puppets and lastly we evaluated them, thinking about how we could improve them and what we liked best about them. Our designs are based on characters from traditional tales, can you guess who they all are?
